Compensation Rates

The compensation rates that are most commonly asked about are detailed below:

Unfair Dismissal

With effect from 6th April 2020:

  • Maximum award = the LOWER of £88,519 or one year's gross pay
  • Basic award = £16,140

The previous rates were:

  • Maximum award = the LOWER of £86,444 or one year's gross pay
  • Basic award = £15,750

Redundancy

NEW RATES for dismissal on or after 6th April 2020:

  • The maximum for a week's pay = £538.00
  • Maximum Statutory payment = £16,140.00

The previous rates were:

  • The maximum for a week's pay = £525.00
  • Maximum statutory = £15,750.00

Discrimination, Health & Safety and Whistle blowing:

There are no maximum awards.

Breach of Contract:

  • Maximum that can be claimed via an Employment Tribunal = £25,000
  • There is no maximum if the claim is made via the High Court

Failure to provide a written statement of terms (contract of employment)

  • 4 weeks' pay
